Anwar is an avid researcher and a seasoned telecom industry professional with 17+ years of progressive industry and research experience in various areas of wired and wireless communication networks.
Currently, Anwar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Western Ontario, Canada where he conducts research in various high value topics in the area of resource and performance management in wired and wireless networks; and leads (as a Consortium Chair) a telecom industry consortium in Next Generation Networks. Prior to this academic appointment at Western, Anwar spent 15 years of his career in the Telecommunications industry (Bell Canada) as a Researcher, Manager, and Associate Director in network technology, network planning /provisioning, and business decision support business units.
Anwar received his PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo (Canada). He also received an MMath in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo (Canada), an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Windsor (Canada), and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from North South University (Bangladesh).
